It’s been awhile!

For those who aren’t familiar with the concept, “7 Days” is a semi-regular feature here at The Inspired Solo in which I corral 7 of the best and most inspiring posts from the prior week in the blogopshere — not legally-related blogs or posts, necessarily, and usually not, in fact. What they have in common: a certain something special that might catalyze a little inspired thinking for readers.
Sometimes I offer a little commentary — a “way in” as I’ve described it in the past. Today, however, is a little too hectic to really get into these posts. So just for today, I’m posting links, titles, and excerpts only.
Let’s get started!
Do What You Love …
“Not everyone can make money doing what they love to do.
Just because you love doing something, doesn’t mean you can make money from it.”
My thoughts on that statement are that I think it’s also a pretty general statement that sounds very assuming as well.
The thing is that when people say that money doesn’t follow if you do what you love, it’s usually that the notion of what they love doing is self serving.
In other words, it just benefits themselves. Not other people.

A Book to Change Your Life
It takes both great courage and exceptional self-awareness for an author to reveal herself so honestly that the reader can learn from her mistakes and her struggles. For that reason alone this book is a remarkable accomplishment, a profound and purely unselfish autobiography. Forget the self-help books — read this wonderful story and become, by association, a better, more focused, more aware, more directed, more self-knowing, more sensuous, spiritual and loving person.

Brand You
That’s the genius of great branding; it often has nothing to do with reality (what you’re actually buying) and everything to do with perception (what you believe you’re buying). It’s about making people feel and think a certain way about something (a product, person, program, company, system).

More on Learning
You’re starting something new: a hobby, designing your first website or maybe even a new business. You’re excited and then you realize you don’t know what you are doing.

Spring Cleaning
If you’re saving an item simply because it reminds you of someone, and said item is taking up too much space, it may be smart to let it it go. You can write about your memories of the item, snap a picture of it, and then let it go. Granted, I have lots of stuff from my grandma that I do use daily, her old butter dish and a chest for example. If all you have is one big ticket item from someone who passed away it can be harder to give up, even if you never use it. Try to consider if you can remember a person without the item around. I bet you can.

The Sounds of Silence
But I’ve realized recently that there’s an even more important context in which to remember to “Stop talking”: when I’m trying to convey a mood of sympathy and understanding.

Giving Something Up to Get Something Back
What’s important to you in your life right now? Your family, your career or your health? Somewhere down the line, there’s going to be conflict, so the clearer you are about your values the easier it’ll be for you to make the judgment call on what to sacrifice.
