Getting Inspired By Getting Quiet

Long-time readers know I’m a big fan of meditation — and close friends know I have a strong affinity for flutes and incense, but as Merlin Mann points out neither flute nor incense is necessary to reap the benefits of meditation.

If you’re interested in learning to meditate, you should set aside a quiet hour plus 12 minutes to view this video from Jon Kabat-Zinn. It’s a clear, no-frills, hype-free entry point into those concepts of mindfulness that, I believe, increase both our productivity and our wellbeing (emphasis on the “being”). It includes a “learn by doing” section that you’ll especially find useful if you’ve never tried this before and have no idea what all the “fuss” is about.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been a lazy meditator for years, and it’s always great to get a wonderful reminder. I also enjoy learning that others are beginning to access this, and that it’s becoming more and more mainstream.
