Best of the Web
On this page you can find a collection of links to other websites, e-journals, and blogs that have posted “pillar” or “flagship” content which I found to meet the following criteria:
- substantive
- practical
- immediately applicable or useful
- addressing one or more of the following areas: small business finance, law practice management, marketing, law office technology, human resources, productivity, lawyering skills, business development, or professional development (i.e., CLE, seminars, law reviews, etc.)
- either applicable to or specifically about solo law practices
The links will be grouped under relevant headings. Note: Neither The Inspired Solo nor Inspired Consulting offers any guarantee of these links. We have no control over the material posted at the linked-to site. While the links were active at the time of inclusion on this page, they may later become inactive or inoperable. If that is the case, please drop me a line through the contact form and let me know.
Law Office Technology
- Ab Initio: Practical Technology Advice for the Newly Solo or Small Firm Lawyer - written by Joe Kashi, for Law Technology Today. Offers guidance to solos on creating technological infrastructure from the ground up. Note: Inspired Consulting and The Inspired Solo do not agree with Mr. Kashi’s conclusions in the first substantive paragraph that lawyers are somehow forced to choose Windows over Macintosh OS computers. With the addition of Parallels and/or Boot Camp, most Windows programs will run just fine on newer Macs with the Intel processors; even without that option, there is a Mac program for every law office need I’ve had so far. However, the article as a whole offers valuable guidance.
Marketing
- 6 Lead Generation Tips for 2007 - PDF, available in executive summary form as a free download from RainToday.com at this page. Discusses lead generation campaigns in general (not specific to law firms); based on survey results. While it seems targeted mostly at B2B service providers, the suggestions can be adapted to other contexts.
Professional Development
- Litilaw - Litigation Articles and Legal Research Collection. Free collection of law review, CLE and other source articles with litigation focus.
