Here it is, fresh off the virtual copy machine — your Weekly Brief! Continuing with the policy we started the last time we did this, the Weekly Brief links will open in new tabs or windows, to help you better explore the full list. If this is terribly annoying, just let me know in the comments and we’ll go back to the old way.
Weekly Brief: The “Welcome Back! Now Get to Work” Edition
Blawg Review #237: Will be published at some point today Is now up at the The Property Law Blog. Always a pleasure, Ed. Christian Metcalfe says the theme for this week’s Blawg Review will be is the anniversary of the Putney Debates – yeah, I had to look it up, too.
Someday Syndrome: “Turning Off the Autopilot: Six Ways to Bring Creativity to Daily Life” by Alex Fayle — this one hit home for me. I’ve been on autopilot ever since the move, and feeling out of sorts because of it. My own creativity took a brief vacay while I struggled with mountains of STUFF and all the myriad killer tasks that come with moving. It’s slowly coming back, thank goodness.
Copyblogger: “The Quentin Tarantino Guide to Creating Killer Content” by Sean Platt — Go all Reservoir Dogs on your readers? It might work …
GTD Times: “Organizing on the iPhone” by Pete Tambroni and Web Worker Daily: “7 Handy iPhone Apps for Your Work” by Aliza Sherman; ReadWriteWeb: “13 Tools for Building Your Own iPhone App” by Sarah Perez — for those of you enviable solos with iPhones, two excellent posts to help ramp up your productivity by optimizing your precious to its fullest, and a post for those of you who also possess app-building skills who want to grow your own.
Zen Habits: “Low Stress Ways to Move House and Declutter Your Life” by Annabel Candy – way too late for the Head Muse but maybe it can do you guys some good. I’m definitely bookmarking this one for the next move, though.
IttyBiz: “101 + 1 Small Business Marketing Questions For People Who Don’t Speak Marketing” by Naomi Dunford — IttyBiz seems to always carry a warning when it’s linked to from other blogs, something along the lines of “this blog isn’t for everyone.” By that, bloggers seem to mean “Warning: Naomi is a grownup and writes like one, with the occasional salty language.” So, if y’all need that kind of warning, consider it given. Frankly, I think IttyBiz is for everyone — everyone who wants to make their small business a success, that is.
Remarkablogger: “Why You Are Not a Service Provider” by Michael Martine — interesting take on what we do by a blogging coach, who is also a service provider (not a service provider? OK, now I’m getting confused). It’s a different perspective, and you guys know how I feel about those.
Performancing: “How to Be Wildly Successful in Blogging“ by Dee Barizo — written mostly for probloggers (those making money directly off their blogs through affiliate marketing, etc.) but there are nuggets of awesomeness for those of us who market our services through our blogs
Web Worker Daily: “Does Multitasking Make You More Productive?” by Karen Leland — God, NO. NO it doesn’t. Here’s why. Now knock that crap off, OK? One thing at a time. Do it well. Do it mindfully. Move on to the next thing. That’s the Inspired Solo way.
Dumb Little Man Tips for Life: “Ditch Productivity for a Day: 12 Great Sites to Kill Time & Have Fun” — Remember Jack Nicholson in The Shining? “All work and no play”? Yeah? Yeah. I’m just saying.
That’s it for this week’s briefing. Now, go and be inspired!
